ATARI AR

Shinji Murakami creates original video games for the Atari 2600 and transforms them into paintings — each canvas doubling as an AR marker. Pointed at with a smartphone, the painting comes alive: the game screen emerges on its surface, and the work demands to be played. The viewer becomes the player; the exhibition becomes a happening. Part of the exhibition is the game — part of the game is the exhibition.
